• India began to follow Liberalisation. Privatisation and Globalisation policies at the behest of USA.

  • India established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1992 and started cooperation in economic, defence, intelligence fields which satisfied USA.

  • India conducted Atomic Test. US imposed sanctions on India in 1998.

  • In NDA Government’s time, India surrendered its self respect to be in the good book of USA.

  • After post 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, some sanctions against India were lifted as India assured that it will fight against International Terrorism.

  • India extended all facilities to US in Afganistan war.

  • US pressurised India to sign NPT, CTBT etc,

  • US-lndia joint Military Exercises were organised in Ladakh and Mizoram. Cooperation in intelligence field was also started.

  • US-lndia Defence Pact signed on 28.6.2005, civil Nuclear cooperation agreement signed on 18.7.2005 and Proliferation Security Initiative also signed.

  • India conducted 27 Military Exercises with the US in the last 5 years which included 14 Army, 7 Navy, 6 Air Force exercises.

  • President Bush signed Nuclear Deal into law in 2008.

  • USA says that US will work with India which says is its global partner. USA also sees India as a Security Partner.

  • President Obama okayed $ 2.1 billion arms sales to India.

  • It was decided between India and USA to establish 5 working groups on strategic cooperation. These are : (i) on energy security and climate change; (ii) on education and development; (iii) on economics, trade and agriculture; (iv) on science and technology; (v) on health and innovation.

  • US Military Commander with 14 Member-team had a discussion on India- Us military cooperation.

  • President Obama announced that 20 business deals worth 10 billion Dollars (Rs. 4,71,000 crores) have been signed with India.

  • India under US pressure bidding good-bye to l-P-l (Iran, Pakistan and India) gas pipeline project, signed an agreement known as TAPI Gas pipeline project. TAPI means—Turkenistan, Afganistan, Pakistan and India.

  • India does not have a true military to military relationship with Russia which is still equipment based. But India’s ties with USA on this matter are much wider while India has a standard end user verification agreement with US, it has not agreed for a similar agreement with Russia.

  • India and USA adopted Knowledge Initiative in Agriculture (KIA) which will cover promoting teacher, research, service, commerce and to face challenges in agricultural sector. This KIA will also cover water management and Biotechnology.
